So What Have You Been Doing Dawn?

Well, I'm so glad you asked! My parents are here and my mom brought me two really cool boxes of knitting and crochet stuff. Each had about 30 patterns. The kids saw these knitted mice and crocheted cupcakes and had to have them.
I admit the cupcakes could also be UFOs or something, but I swear I followed the pattern!

R.I.P. baby starling

Last night, I saw (from the house) our cat Leo playing with something. It turned out to be a baby bird. After some internet research, we discovered it was a starling.

Georgia made it a nest in her new sombrero. It stayed there all night and we fed it a mixture of cat food, applesauce and hard boiled egg. I also boiled some Karo syrup and water and fed it little drops.

It seemed to be doing fine, that is until we returned from playing at Syd's house. Poor baby was dead. I think I was more sad than the kids.

Oh- In that first picture, the bird is alive and well!

We have some awesome neighbors across the street, the Millers. Georgia is holding their little baby girl, AJ, in the first picture. Sydney is almost 3 and equally as cute!

The kids are modeling their sombreros courtesy of Grace Bronleewe and her fiesta-themed birthday party. They are channeling Skippyjon Jones.

The Grammy Comes Home

Steve finally got his Grammy this week. It's back home in the studio, but we all got a chance to see it and hold it! Congratulations to my fantastically talented musician husband. I'm proud of you!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I thought it would be funny to take a picture of me wearing a cool, refreshing pomegranite mask my sister, Bethany, gave me for Mother's Day (she also made me a locket necklace!).

Jude really wanted to see what it was and I knew it would freak them out.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in my life. Mothering is the most important job there is! Take some time for yourself. YOU deserve it.

I can totally see Georgia being like Bindi Irwin someday. She has a passion for all creatures great and small!

PS yes that is Jude sleeping in a box like a homeless boy.

Big Happenins' In May

About 2 weeks ago, Georgia said her tooth was hurting her. Sure enough, it was very wiggly! I assumed she wouldn't lose a tooth for another year. It was barely hanging by a thread this morning when she let Daddy "wiggle" it. It came right out and didn't even bleed. Her permanent tooth is already right there to pop up.

She's pretty excited about it, but I think I'm more excited. She kept saying, "Why do you keep talking about it Mama?" after I called and sent pictures to grandparents etc!

Yesterday, we also registered for Kindergarten. The school is awesome and everyone raves about it. Georgia is VERY excited to go to school and came home to pack her backpack (you can never be too prepared, right?). Even Jude was impressed. He wants to go too, despite his earlier protests of "homeschool!".
